Get results in days, not monthsResults in days, not monthsMore people now begin with a chat window than with a list of blue links. A person types "I overstayed my visa, what can I do" or "puedo pedir a mi hermano" into an assistant, receives several paragraphs and may then ask, "can you recommend an immigration lawyer near me?" What the tool says depends on what it can find and read: your site, your profile, directories, news and public records. In this field there is also a particular risk, because government rules shift and an out-of-date page can feed a confident but wrong answer. This guide covers how to keep your firm's facts accurate, how to write pages that answer questions cleanly and what we can and cannot influence. AI search work is included in every Organic Growth plan from $1,495 a month.
What changes
A human reader skims a page for a phone number and a feeling. An assistant looks for statements it can lift: who the attorney is, where the office is, what languages are spoken, which case types the firm handles, how consultations work and what they cost. It also weighs consistency. If your site says the firm opened in one year, a directory says another, and a bio says a third, the tool has reason to doubt all of them or to choose the least reliable source.
Assistants tend to add a caution to immigration answers, reminding the asker to check official information or speak to an attorney. That helps you, because the logical next step is a referral. It also means the tool is often conservative about naming firms, and no one can promise a mention. We do not claim to control what any assistant says, and anyone who does is overselling.
What a firm can control is the clarity of its own facts, the consistency of those facts across the web, the quality of its explainers and how current they are. In this practice, currency is not a nice extra. A page that describes a process that has since changed can mislead a reader, and it may also expose you under your bar's rule about misleading communications.
How people ask
| Kind of question | Example in English | Example in Spanish | What a firm can publish |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eligibility | "Can I apply for a green card if I entered on a tourist visa?" | "Puedo arreglar mis papeles si me case con ciudadana?" | A careful explainer that states it is general information, lists factors and invites a consult. |
| Process and stages | "What happens after I file the petition for my spouse?" | "Que sigue despues de la peticion familiar?" | A plain-language outline of the stages with a note that timing varies. |
| Choosing a lawyer | "How do I know if an immigration lawyer is legitimate?" | "Como se si un abogado de inmigracion es de verdad?" | Bar admission details, attorney bios and a page explaining how to verify a license. |
| Fees | "How much do immigration attorneys charge for a marriage green card?" | "Cuanto cobra un abogado por la tarjeta verde?" | A fee explainer that describes how you charge in general terms and what the consult covers. |
| Urgent situations | "My relative was detained, what do I do first?" | "Detuvieron a mi esposo, a quien llamo?" | A clearly labeled urgent page with a phone number and honest response hours. |
| Local recommendation | "Immigration attorney near me who speaks Spanish" | "Abogado de inmigracion que hable espanol cerca" | A profile, site and directories that state the same languages and addresses. |
| Scam wariness | "Is a notario a real lawyer?" | "Un notario puede ayudarme con mi caso de inmigracion?" | A page that gently explains the difference and links to official consumer guidance. |
We test your own list of questions every month in both languages and record what comes back. Answers drift, so the point is to notice errors about your firm and fix their sources, not to chase a single phrase.
The work
Name, offices, phone, hours, languages, attorneys, bar admissions, case types, how consultations work and how fees are explained. Every other page should agree with it.
Website, profile, major legal directories, social pages and association rosters should carry the same details, spelled the same way.
Case-type pages and short FAQ blocks that state things in complete sentences an assistant can quote without losing meaning.
Add a visible last-reviewed date to any page that touches a process. Assign an attorney who owns that review calendar.
Remove or archive old posts about rules that have changed. An outdated article does more harm than silence.
Monthly questions in English and Spanish, with notes on what is accurate, what is invented and what source seems to be feeding the error.
Content that helps
Names the person
Education, bar admissions, languages, matters handled and the office where the attorney meets clients, written in third person with real detail.
Defines the matter
A page that says what the matter is, who might qualify in general terms, the typical stages and what the first consultation covers.
Answers the money question
How the firm charges in general terms, whether packages exist, what the first meeting costs and how to prepare.
Builds trust
A short guide to checking that someone is licensed, with links to your state bar and to the Department of Justice accredited representative roster.
Matches the local query
Which languages are spoken, how interpreters are used and how to request one by phone.
The timely page
A dated page where an attorney explains how the firm is handling a recent change, in general terms and with a review date.
Honest limits
Nobody can buy or guarantee a recommendation from an assistant, and the sources that feed them change often. We treat AI search as the part of search that rewards clarity, consistency and care. Done well, it also improves how your site reads to people, which is the better reason to do it.
This is a different thing from advertising inside a chat product. ChatGPT ads are an early channel, and for a law firm they may be worth only a small, measured test, if that. Paid placements in a tool carry their own rules, and your bar's advertising rules apply to them just as they apply to a search ad. See the paid channels guide for where that sits in an ordering of channels.
Risk
Assistants sometimes state things that are not true: a wrong office address, an attorney who left years ago, a case type your firm does not take, a fee you never charged. The first step is to find the source. Often an old directory, a data broker or an unclaimed profile is feeding the error. Fix the source, then wait; many tools refresh slowly. If the answer is damaging and a tool offers a way to report it, use that route and keep a record.
Never answer an error by publishing a defensive page that repeats the false claim in your headline. Simply state the correct fact somewhere visible, in plain words, such as "our office is at this address, we handle these case types, these attorneys practice here."
Monthly log
| Question asked | Language | Accurate? | Likely source of any error | Action |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| "Immigration lawyer in [your city] who handles family petitions" | English | Check firm name, address and attorneys | Old directory listing or a former partner name | Correct the listing and the site |
| "Abogado de inmigracion en [your city] que hable espanol" | Spanish | Check language claim and phone | Profile languages left blank | Fill profile fields and add a Spanish page |
| "How much does an immigration lawyer charge in [your state]?" | English | Check any fee statement attributed to you | An old article or a third-party estimate | Publish your own fee explainer |
| "Is [firm name] a real law firm?" | Both | Check bar status and office details | Missing bar listing or duplicate profiles | Complete bar and association profiles |
| "What should I do if a notario took my money?" | Both | Check that your page points to official help | No page on the subject | Publish a reviewed guide with links to consumer protection offices |
Keep the log in a shared sheet with the date. Over a few months it shows which fixes made the answers more accurate and which errors keep coming back.
Structured data
Structured data is code on a page that states facts in a form software can read: the firm's name, address, phone, hours, attorneys, languages and the areas it serves. Types such as LegalService and Attorney exist for this purpose. It does not guarantee that any assistant or search engine will show or recommend your firm, and it must match what is visible on the page. What it does is remove ambiguity, which is exactly what an immigration lawyer's public record needs when names, suites and phone numbers have changed over the years.
The same discipline applies to the plain text. Write the firm's description once, carefully, and reuse it. When a tool summarizes an immigration lawyer's practice, it tends to repeat whatever it found most often and most consistently.

AI questions
AI search work is bundled into Organic Growth at $1,495 (Silver), $2,495 (Gold) and $3,495 (Platinum) monthly, with nothing due to begin.
No, and no one honestly can. We can make your facts accurate, consistent and easy to quote, which makes a correct description more likely.
For most firms, yes. Public explainers help clients and build trust. If you have reasons to restrict access to certain pages, such as client-only pages, we can discuss it.
Retire or update them. In immigration, stale material can mislead readers and assistants alike, and your bar may care about misleading communications.
Often, but not always. They draw from what is published in Spanish, so a firm with real Spanish pages is easier to describe than one with only English.
No. A chat tool on your site is an intake choice, with confidentiality questions of its own. AI search is about what outside assistants say about you.
